I've been doing a lot of lurking and reading (but very little posting) since buying a GX a couple months ago. This forum has been very helpful and I suspect I'll end up interacting/contributing over time, so I figured I'd offer up the obligatory intro post. Very happy to be here.

My GX will primarily be a daily/family hauler, but I've got a RTT from an old build that I hope to use again now that my kids are getting older. Ventures off-pavement will be limited to poorly maintained fire roads in northern MN and the like. As such, no build or mods to see here - just some basic accessories to add some capability. So far: recovery points, roof rack (Prinsu Pro), and ATs (265/65r18 Wildpeak AT4).

Pics above include 1.25" wheel spacers, which I am no longer using.

Cheers and thanks to all of you for the knowledge already shared.

I have the same philosophy with my build too. Same wheels and I plan to get the exact same tires (in a few months)! Interested to hear about your recovery points too.

Thanks for the welcome!

Front recovery points are NYTOP (NYTOP | 2014-2023 Lexus GX460 Front Recovery Points - https://nytop.com/shop-product/2014-2023-lexus-gx460-front-recovery-points). They aren't perfect but good enough to recommend, if you want something that integrates well with OEM appearance. I can start a "review" thread for a slightly more detailed write up and photos if there's interest.

For the rear, I am just using a hitch receiver point (Factor 55 HitchLink). I want to be able to keep the class IV hitch for now, which was also a deciding factor in running 265/65s.

Love the vintage gas station! Is it still a gas station, pumping gas with modern internal? Or just a place for vintage cars to park and take pictures?

Closer to the latter ... My dad, brother, and I went in on a "car condo" as a place to store and work on our various project cars. The gas station is at the center of our complex and acts as a clubhouse/meeting space. The pumps are just for show so I only use it as a photo spot. :)

Posting to share my tire experience and some pics from a late April camping trip...

After 6 months, 4 balancing attempts at 2 different shops, a new set of wheels, and an alignment check, I could not get the Wildpeak AT4w to balance properly (steering wheel shimmy above 60 mph). Discount Tire took them back under warranty after hearing out my frustration (good on them) and got me into a set of BFG KO3s in the same size. The Wildpeak AT4w performed very well in mixed terrain (gravel/mud/snow) on the trip, so I am hopeful I just got a bad batch and other folks are loving theirs. In contrast, the BFGs took half the weight to balance and have remained balanced. I'll start a thread in the Wheel and Tire tech section to do a back to back comparison once I get them into the snow and off pavement. (Although it won't be totally apples to apples as the AT4w was a SL and the KO3s are load range D.) That said, so far, I am loving the KO3.
