Another center arm question

I purchased a center arm rebuild kit from ccots this past week.I just got done putting power steering on the truck,and things felt good.I took the truck in for new tires and asked them about putting on the center arm while it was there.This place does all kinds of front end work.They put it on and charged me twenty dollars.It felt like it was wandering a little coming home. I checked and noticed the top cap on the center arm doesn't tighten down as far as the old one.I readjusted the arm,but it still feels tight.The steering wheel doesn't come back to center either. Any ideas? Thanks.

I baught the cheaper center arm kit form CCOT, it didn't work worth a sh*t, the top cap to the center arm didn't seat as much as it says it should in the Toyota and Haynes manual, the spring in that kit was too tall, one f#*ked up thing thing after an other. I ended up using OEM Toyota parts to rebuild mine and it worked flawlessly. Take your Cruiser to a reputable shop and have them give it the once over, maybe they can make it work.

If the wheel will not come back to center, and it did before, then there is a VERY GOOD CHANCE that it is TOO TIGHT. I would loosen it until the steering returns easily, because tight steering can be VERY DANGEROUS.

I'll try to readjust tomorrow.I tightened up the cap,then backed off 1/4 turn,then tightened the bolt on top.I'll back off more tomorrow and see what happens.Thank for the info!
