No, I am not. I had already ordered a foot of it for $9 from McMaster-Carr. 3/16" x 3/4". I wanted it to be rigid enough to hold the fuse box up in the air like it was on the stock set up. I am sure once someone gets around to doing this install, they will take you up on it. The battery is huge. 3 free replacement warranty, 1150 Cold Cranking Amps, 205 min. Reserve Capacity, and 100 Amp Hours at a 20 Hour Rate. Much more battery than what I was looking at before.

Gaylon, something like this might work for you as an extension... with the added benefit of quick disconnect. However, I believe these are for use with the negative post side. I think the positive and negative posts are different sizes so it might not fit well or might not make a good connection. Also, be aware of the added height.

eBay Motors: Summit G1439 Battery Disconnect Switch Terminal Mount (item 320247478778 end time Jun-01-08 08:22:01 PDT)

i used one of those quick disconect things on my car before,

and they are for the negative side, you need to stretch it out for the positive side.

For the battery terminal covers, from where did you order those?
I live in Australia but I bought them from you guys at stellmar.com (I can't go to that site anymore as it recognises I am from OZ and redirects me, does anybody know a way around this)

You mention in a previous email servicing the alternator connections - I have never heard of this.

Preventative maintenance
As your vehicle gets older you do other maintenance like throttle body cleaning, changing the starter contacts (I would change the starter brushes at the same time, or at least check them)

The alternator maintenance I menioned would be done when you are doing some other work on and around the engine, but a good time to do it is of course when you are doing battery replacement/dual battery installation.
Remove alternator
Check alternator brushes and bearings (replace if necessary), blow out/clean alt and regulator heat sinks etc. Reinstall, check all connections, check alternator output.
No it's not mandatory, but if your vehicle is 10 years old and you go bush, something to think about.

Looks like they changed names or were bought:

https://www.vtewarehouse.com/ is the new link.

Thank you for the maintenance ideas. I will keep you posted.

Stellmar was the small online sales page, that's how I purchased and had them sent to Ventura to be reposted to me. VTE was the manufacturer, this new link you sent me to, does the same thing and redirects me to the VTE world site but without being able to buy from it. I want to get around it somehow.
The terminal covers and lug covers are fantastic. A very good product. (The australian importer/distribution is hopeless, I tried to buy from them previously and it was a joke, just couldn't be done, couldn't tell me what they had in stock etc. etc.

Not sure how to get around the web redirect issue. Someone here has to know. I know that they are reading the IP address you have and associating it to a local provider, but I do not know how to fool it. Can you call them? I would be happy to make a buy and ship it to you...

I might take you up on that one day, I try to get a "goodies" list together over time, then buy it all and try to get it sent here. I will post something up in the chitchat maybe.

if you want to take me up on it, PM or email me. I never manage to get over to the chit chat board.

another pic - this time with the busbar piece

3/16 x 3/4 x 2 and 1/4 inches.

where did you get that nice thick piece of cooper? how much did it cost you?

3/16 x 3/4 x 2 and 1/4 inches.

Now you just need to get rid of the light gauge original terminal and replace it with a solid brass one> and of course add the terminal cover!

It cost $8.86 from McMaster-Carr for a foot long piece. I had to cut of the 2.25 inches i needed. I ordered it Friday and it was delivered to the office Monday.

Yes and yes, right after I do a couple things to my 85 FJ60 that is my wife's driver. :)

So I finally got fed up with my True Start Toyota battery not being reliable and dying on me twice in the past week and purchased a group 31 Marine Die Hard Platinum AGM battery. It has almost twice the capacity and twice the power of the stock battery (1150 CCA, 205 min RC, and 100 AH @ 20 hour rate).

I was hoping, and under the impression that this battery would be pretty much plug and play sans the terminal location. However, it looks as though the design has changed since 2008 and the battery is a little bit taller. Because of this, the stock battery clamp will not fit (may be able to in a pinch). The biggest problem is in the length of the threaded hook. Anyway, enough talking and on with some pictures.

The old battery setup

Had to trim the battery tray for size

Since old clamp would not cut it, I made this one. If you need dimensions or anything, I can send you a pdf or the solidworks file if you have that.

Next, I made a terminal adapter out of some copper flat bar from Mcmaster. If you need dimensions or anything, I can send you a pdf or the solidworks file if you have that.

I also made a larger chassis ground cable from 4 ga. just because.
