Ive not been too happy with my optimas. Last night was cold, my dual bat monitor had both batteries around 11.6 (in the red) I have a dual battery tray that was designed to fit two n70s (aussie battery spec) My google foo is lacking trying to find the equivalent. I have the group number of the optimas, but would like to find out if they are the same as n70.

Another way to ask is what size is the stock 70 series battery....

GROUP 31.

I like Interstates. I have never liked the fancy AGM batteries. Our alternators have a difficult time charging them (that's at least my experience when I spent way too much money on 2 batteries from Deka for my 80 series).

I run two Interstate 27's and they have not let me down one damn bit. Cold, hot, etc. No issues starting.

Andrew, I'm running Excide batteries in my 77 Series and they have served me well so far.

The pair of Optimas lasted one winter. I replaced them with CdnTire Nautilus marine batteries and they last about 4 years. Every summer I make sure the fluid levels are topped up and switch them in the circuit.

An Optima in a 12v vehicle has lasted 6 years so far. Perhaps there is something about two in series that doesn't work well with the 24v charging system.

I was happy with Interstate for years. Then a few years back, I bought the mega-extreme-super-platinum-arm-leg-cost-die-hard and regretted it a year later. Interstate always from then on.

I believe I have a 27 as the ACC battery and slightly larger (31?) for the house main. Purely because of sizing and fear of hood contact.

Thanks folks. Yea

Yes, hood contact, found out the hard way on a previous rig
