After a trail run on Sunday I was driving home on the highway and just happened to catch a glimpse of a little black speck that seemed to fly off my truck in my drivers side mirror.

I had no idea what it was so I pulled over and ran back.

It was my gutter mount clamp piece from the left rear (6 total with the rack).

It seems the allen bolt somehow loosened its way out, so I lost the bolt and the rubber pad that fits inside the clamp.

I called ARB in Seattle and explained to them what happened. They connected me to a warranty dept and I let them know I purchased the rack 2nd hand, but they didn't seem to mind.

The operator ran through the part numbers with me and got my address and is sending out free replacement parts. Thats pretty awesome.

He did explain that they require periodic checking and tightening of the little allen bolts, which I did, but I'm going to ensure I don't lose anymore parts by attaching some nuts on the remaining allen bolt threads inside the rack.

I've found the folks at ARB really, really helpful and totally behind the product..

Yeah you gotta tighten this stuff down every now and then..

I haven't gotten the replacement pieces yet, I'm sure that will take a few days.

I ended up checking the size and threads of the allen head bolts in there, and replaced them with some bolts, washers, and nuts from Ace Hardware.

I was able to really tighten the rack down this way. Since I wont be removing the rack anytime soon, these bolts seem like a better setup to lock the rack down to the gutter rails.

I'd dab on some blue loctite on the allen bolt threads to prevent further loosening up due to vibration.

Cheers.
