And a necrobump for some more geeking.
I got a knockoff android tablet a couple months ago , mostly for reading. Downloading ebooks by the dozen is waay better than going to the library. ( the hot librarian thing is a myth near as I can tell)
found a kickass app for boat people,
Marine Navigator reads rastor charts (.kap files) which is kindof awesome. Instant chartplotter, with 10" screen...not exactly waterproof, but nothing a good ziploc bag can't fix...
Only real downside is it doesn't do " quilting" like the expensive plotters, but considering it's free, it's not much of a hardship.
The charts for the US are available free ( from noaa website) , canada charges for theirs

rolleyes

,but I have pretty much all of them on a data stick, of course it would be completely illegal for me to share them with anyone who asked...
For s***s and giggles I had another go with that androzic, but I'm buggered if I can find maps that work on it...I thought they were free, but the gubment website is confusing as hell. Maybe it's my hungover brain, and deep dislike of gubment websites.
