Kid said today that the tranny was holding fluid. He also came over and helped me spread mulch in my backyard for a little bit. He is off at work now but I'll go over some time this weekend and poke at the JB weld to see if it hardened any more.

Mighty Putty to the rescue.....LOL I couldnt resist

Guy says tranny is holding fluid. I told him to clean the tranny around the pan junction very well so you can detect any leaks. I'll have to follow up tomorrow to see if he did it.

... The JB Weld had supposedly cured for 4 hours which is what the company recommends but I could still shave off pieces w/ a razor blade - I hope the JB was mixed correctly...

The kid's an evil genius... he instinctively knew to mix it a little on the soft side since he was patching aluminum:steer:

can't be good

there is definitely something wrong. any rover not leaking some fluid, somewhere is having a problem. :p

most likley oil all gone!!!:p They all stop leaking eventually!

Little update - tranny had to be rebuilt - then air compressor went out that inflates the rear axle air bags - helped take apart the compressor and it was caked full of mud = shot. New springs are supposed to be going under the Rover to replace the air bags.

Driver's front door won't open - something came apart inside the door - but we can't get into the door because the door is closed and the inside panel is blocked by the seat. Looks like the seat is coming out. I nixed the 'torch' idea.

Did I mention the local Rover dealer wanted something stupid like $600 or $800 to change the spark plugs? When I saw what it took to change them though I understood - they are on the REAR of the motor sandwiched between the motor and the firewall - no dang way to get to them.

Oh, and only one other shop in the area would touch the tranny...

Steve you need to quietly and slowly back away from this guy, then when he's not looking; run away and never answer your phone or door again without looking.

The :princess:'s sister had a discovery that just kept having tons of problems over the past year. Finally blew a headgasket about a month ago. They traded it in on a Jeep, some people just dont learn.

Little wrenching went on end of last week and this weekend. I wasn't able to help as I had to work. :crybaby:

Air compressor went kaput - it got junked and the rear airbags were junked. Neighbor threw in some used coils. I think everything went OK.

Is that a driveway to the left? Loving the make shift jack stands. Man up and buy real ones and that just looks scary!
