Amsoil Bypass Oil Filter

*second post, woo hoo. (never celebrated my 1st)

I just bought my 1991 80 a few weeks ago, and noticed the Amsoil by-pass system almost immediately...but had NO idea what it was.

So I read some threads here and educated myself a bit online, and now I have a BASIC idea of what oil bypass systems are for...but I can't find on Amsoil's website:

1) how often I should be changing filters,
2) whether I should change both bypass filters AND the full flow at the same time (so, 3 filters all at once)
3) if it really is problematic with gas engines (I can't understand how it would be, but some threads here have indicated some lack of satisfaction)

Also, any ideas on prices for the by-pass filters?

Is the bypass filter something that was installed on your truck by the previous owner, or something you're thinking of installing? You're not being clear.

BK-11

Amsoil offers a couple kits for the HDJ81 engine if thats what you are talking about, there are a couple guys who use it. It is used in conjunction with factory oil fiter system.It extends oil life but you still need to change etc. It also adds over a litre or more of oil to your system, the old BK-11 kit is now a BK-22 I believe.
