went up 2 days ago and it is destroyed. The winter storms and high winds have really destroyed it. trees downed every 100ft and the tree limbs were hanging down in the trail. If you dig massive branches dragging along side your rig go for it. I don't mind but I'd rather not completely peel my paint off my cruiser. It was ugly, not even a pretty trip. It looked like some things caught fire, then a tornado, then huge rainstorm, and a bomb hit. it was like a horror movie. the trees and bushes were starting to grow back and get thick, then they all died. Since they started growing, they grew out into the middle of the trail then froze. I had branches dragging from the center of my windshield all the way back onto the taillights.

just letting you guys know, so nobody goes up there for the day and gets pissed off because its ruined. s*** sucked, but it was fun wheeling.

Potential Trail clean up

Guys,

We have a great opportunity to do a trail clean up and build some more relationships with the forest service. Perhaps we can partner with another 4x4 club. Lets discuss at the meeting tonight.

Andrew

Andrew, It really wasn't something that you can clean up easily. You would have to bring chainsaws and cut down trees, haul them out. It would be very hard to clean it up, I'm not saying it isn't possible but its not "cleanable" if you know what I'm talking about. It's just a lot of junk. When we went through there we cleaned it up as much as possible. It's drivable now.

I'm confused. from the description on the first post you describe trees downed and a "war zone" but in the 2nd post it's drivable. Are you saying that there are a lot of braches that only cause pin-striping and are generally a nuesense or are there real hazards that stop traffic altogether? Before we make an effort to get folks up there a little clarification or even pics (yeah pics) would be helpful

Ted,

It was more of a nuesense with tree's hanging out everywhere. I really didn't get a lot of pictures of the bad areas since I was in and out moving downed branches and debris from the trail. Sorry for the confusion, but the tops of the trees are snapped and hanging down out of reach, which they will fall on the trail soon. I will look if I did take any pictures but I'm almost positive I did not. Actually, I'll look now... no i dont. I have one but I can't upload anything with my internet connection here. You are all at the meeting so when you get back you'll see this. Back to the trail, most of the debris is hanging, which will fall on the trail soon. I wouldn't attempt to clean the trail (i would if possible) but most are snapped tree tops hanging down, you would need a lift and a rather large chainsaw to get to them. there is one part that has heavy debris, but to big to move. We had to go around it. It looked to be a huge oak tree down about 5' in diameter.
