I have a question I'm hoping the group can help solve. I have a capture nut plate in the tub body missing for the ambulance door hinge and I'm not sure of the best way to tackle it.

It was missing when I bought the rig and the tub interior had been basically rhino lined to include that backing plate area. I had initially thought that there was a metal tab that could be bent back to enable the loose capture plate to be slid in. Anyone done a resto where they've replaced these?

I would make my own. The boxed area that holds the plate bends back easily (it's only welded on the bottom if I recall.

Pull your good one out and make a copy of it on flat steel... Drill and tap, Bob's your uncle.

I'm second guessing my memory actually. You might have to cut a few spots welds in order to bend the cover back. Sorry, I can't remember now.

Ya with the lining covering the edge of the outer plate I wasn't sure how to attack it. I guess I'll start cutting away the lining first to see what I can expose. The capture nut plate should be easy enough to make. I was hoping to avoid deep cutting and welding. Hopefully it's a tab that just bends back.

I haven't verified this, but it looks like the captivating part is only attached by two spot welds on one side of the part. I think you might be able to pry it away carefully and insert a new threaded plate and then push the outer piece back into place. It should be easy to make a new threaded plate using a piece of flat bar.
