I have a 79 FJ40, Ive replaced the IC Alternator with a re-manufactured one. After getting it installed, the engine will start; however, the key is moved to the off position the engine continues to run. There are two wires from the harness that go to the alternator. A white/blue that attaches to the "B" post, and a black/yellowish wire that is in the connector, that attaches o the connector on the alternator. I assume the black wire is the ignition wire. I've checked for back feeding by disconnecting the connector while the vehicle is running and in the off position to see if the vehicle shuts off, but it doesn't. Can anyone direct me in what may be the issue? everything worked fine before the install of new alternator except the ignition key would come out very easily while he vehicle was running.
