Howdy,

This setup came off a 1F built in 12/67. I think it's right.

I have another backet from a 1F around 71, but it's curved and I would like to see how others are using it.

Please post pictures
Ernie

@Blastservices
@65swb45

I tried to mount the alternator like @Blastservices in his reply to Matt, with the thick washer at the pump , but no way will the alternator bolt align with the alternator thread. We have the same alternator part number, so something does not make sense.

I think the old style alternator (2nd pic)does not have the big hump at that boss , where the newer (1st pic) one does.

@Blastservices can you confirm you grinded that boss to make the straight bar in the back position work?

Here is the post I am referencing

Here are a couple of phots showing our setup on our 1970 using one of Matt's adjustable brackets.

Your alternator maybe clocked different?
My alternator is a factory installed unit and before that restoration I was just fortunate enough to find the EXACT parts sticker that matched what was on there before it was gone through. Nothing was ground on my case to fit. If your saying that alternator is new to your truck then someone either clocked it wrong or it’s mislabeled.

Yours if the first one...the thin stud goes through the groove in the stacked plates

Mine is second picture.... the thin stud goes over the stacked plates. Therefore the boss is taller and thus the interference.

I think the person I bought the alternator put a label on a newer (non OEM?) alternator....I.
That's the only thing that makes sense

I'm tempted on Matt's solution, but a little pricey and only negative is the breaking the waterpump seal. I do have the 68 dual pulley setup for the 1 year smog, and the strange bolt Mark spoke of.

Had a great chat with Matt as his curiosity is greater than mine and he was tracking the conversation.

:)

a note worthy past issue tech related i had to contend with , and how at the time i solved it , NOT saying this is MY prescribed solution to others , im just saying 10 + years ago running my in house onsite small restoration and mechanical shop Prior to online store days this worked like a charm !

- However , i spoke to @ERNRAM via his Platinum Level Boutique status Client and Solid MUD buddy Shop Hotline access he has , :D

- i am going to make available a NOS Genuine NipponDenso 2 o-clock lock down position Top TAB front face frame , so the straight BAR clearance issue he is currently experiencing.......

- well , ........... will no Longer be a issue of correct oem fitment with out engaging in any MODS what so ever .

In case you decide go Matt's cool solution (i am going to), you will need the short collar and the single long bolt.

Per discussion with Matt, those are no longer avaliable by Toyota, so I'm post pictures of the dimension and the part number for the bolt.

Bolt is 60mm long if you don't want to fund Mr T

With respect to the belt, I think I would get the 1067mm. I have to pivot the alternator against the block, and even then it a tad hard to get it over the pulley to take it off
