Who are you calling a beast? Good thing I know where you live and I'll conveniently be in Calgary shortly.

Jim... I picked up this tidbit somewhere over the years... "Beast" is not a term of endearment to a woman.

Sure would have been nice to get to know you more :(

Mark...

BTW, Jim... I am in the market for a POS broken locker. I hear you have one for sale cheap?
Mark...

BTW Mark, it's Jim BTW, not BTW Jim. Get it straight. :flipoff2:

Nice to see you posting up Jim. Looks like you have a good stretch of garage time ahead of you, but really other than the trail, where would one rather be? Hopefully you have some extra hands to help with the big things.

It's a ways off yet, but I'm hoping in that once the weather in on the upswing again, we can put together an ACT shake down run, maybe SW of Rocky? Canadian bum has been good enough to invite some of us Edmonton guys out for a couple runs there, really varied terrane, maybe his 45 will be ready to take out by then....

Can you shed any light on the military snorkel? I'm planning on a homespun one, but options are good :)

I was assuming it was "dead meat" by now... or is he safe until after you pick up your locker?

Mark...

Do you ever get that sinking feeling in your gut... like the quicksand is waiting just beneath the surface to swallow you up when you least expect it?

Sometimes it is. :(

Just kidding

Oops. Damn. Was that my outside voice? I hate that when that happens. Like I said... :D Just kidding you.

Nah, I think I'd better give it back to Ratpuke. I'd prefer a working ARB anyway and besides I have a lot of work to do on the truck that broken bones won't help.

Regards,
Jim "Dead Meat" BTW

Oh, yeah...

Sounds good. I plan to shake out the bugs as early as possible.

Can you shed any light on the military snorkel?
I had in my possession a Canadian Military, yup we have one and a fine job they are doing in Afghanistan, surplus "Deuce" snorkel kit. I bought it from a club member for what he paid for it, about $150 some time ago. The kit consisted of a flexible large diameter hose, a HUGE end cap and a bunch of fittings for a fording kit. I never did figure it all out because I exchanged it for some used 60 series PS parts from Crash_AB. Apparently there was some dude in the Crowsnest Pass selling these kits. Crash_AB has the picture of this snorkel fitted to a 40. It looked pretty good. It would sure provide a lot of air. I'll see if I can find any more info. I do have a Safari so will probably throw that on unless I get the urge to weld one up of my own design (might be better for the normally aspirated 1HZ I'm putting in).

(Re)build thread

In deference to Facebook (yeah Ratpuke, I know... I MIGHT get around to signing my life away to FB...sometime ) I have started a (re)build thread over in the Expedition Build forum.

If you are remotely interested, the thread can be found here...

Constructive criticism , or not :flipoff2:, as always is welcome.

Jim BTW

nothing like road kill to put you off your beef sammie
I get to see so many deer splats here in southern IA that they no longer affect me.

just an idea here:hhmm: but is there a way for someone to possibly film the act, or maybe it's already been done. i could not possibly attend in the near future but would most certainly buy a copy, as i'm sure a few others would also ,just to see the rigs, mishaps and the scenery above all. i enjoy mark's pics of the action and scenery of past act"s, would even be better in motion. but it might be more of a hassle than what it's worth. just an idea....

Ooooh, yeah, what he said! I'd buy it!

Interesting concept. But someone would have to take it upon themselves to devote pretty much all of their time to this. Not possible for any of the drivers, wrenchers, active winch monkeys, cooks, parents w/kids along or any of the Crew I will be tasking with "helper" duties throughout the Trek.

I actually had a small time wannabe "filmmaker" approach me about riding along on one of the Treks just to film it. He was trying to transition from short features for the Playboy channel and similar cable distributors into a National Geographic/Discovery Channel type market. Nothing ever came of it. I guess he decided skin paid better :)

If someone wants to take this project on and they have halfway decent editing skills, it could be a pretty cool piece.

But, it would've just been a different type of porn flick. Cruiser porn.

cruiser porn huh:hhmm: i'de probably buy a copy of that also.:D:beer:

Different kinda porn I think :p

Years ago my sister in law got the biggest laugh watching me as the "Making of the SI swimsuit issue" was airing on cable. Some silly bimbo was posing on and in an HJ47 in Africa. Silly tart was blocking any good look at the details of the rig! Sis in law just did not get it. :)

I would like to have a video of the trip, however, I have been on several rides with professional photographers and it always takes 2 to 3 times longer to cover the same amount of trail, so unless everyone agrees you are apt to have some unhappy trekkers.

Not gonnna happen that way. :) Trek comes first. If someone is up to filming as we go that woll be great. Bur no changes for the sake of any filming.
