Alaska Cruiser Trek 2010

As of 5pm today, we have 11 confirmed participants from Canada and the Lower 48. 2 expected, but applications not in hand here yet. And one invitee hoping to be here but working on scheduling still.

Kevin, Charla and myself driving our rigs, and some of the Whatley Clan driving the support truck for us.

Three other members of the Alaska Cruiser Crew (Darrell, John and Pat for those of you who know them).

So, the count now stands at 20 rigs on the trail. Unless we have some drop outs, the Trek is full. This is gonna be a big group on the trail Our largest yet. And our largest Outside participation.

And an interesting mix of rigs. A 100 series... An FJ45 wagon. A home grown FJ40/45 pickup. Turbo diesel 80 series and turbo diesel 60 series (American and Japanese flavored ones). A couple of NA Diesels in 40 and 70 series varients. And a turbo diesel BJ42 as well. Hoping to see another BJ73 with us as well. And of course Matt's 40 with the 2FETI. FZJ80s. FJ62. FJ40s of course. Tires from MTs to Boggers. 35 inches to 40 inchers... maybe 49s! The support truck is a flat bed mini with V8 and swampers.

We won't announce who is gonna be coming up here in this thread. If you feel like tossing it out for yourself, feel free of course. :) We will send a list of everyone and their rigs out to all of the participants as soon as we get out mailing list and maybe chat link set up. And, yes, maps and such are still in the works.

Think I'm in the -48's never mind the lower 48 :D

Lowenbrau (Bruce Lowen) and Ratpuke (Charla) brought his BJ73 up in 2007 on 37 inch "semi-mudtires" for a non-Trek outing with Kevin and I for some exploring. They did real well, except when we got into... Mud :) There they were hit and miss

Sorry... BJ74!!!

Eventually I will get that straight in my head :)

I just got back from an afternoon up in Hatcher Pass... Archangel Valley. I am floored everytime I get back there by how beautiful it is. Archangle Valley in particualr. Spectacular in both the macro and the micro. An amazing place and I can leave the driveway and be there in half an hour or so. If we wind up bringing the Trekkers in toward the Anchorage area to wrap things up... a day spent walking and hiking and simply BEING.... Would be something that few will ever forget... even after the Trek itself. I'll post a few pics from today in a little bit. There are a small number from that area taken in August, posted in the "Where did you go with yiur Toyota today" thread.

We have hemmed and hawed about it for a bit , but numbers firmed up and Charla and I had a chance to talk about it some. It is official now. The Alaska Cruiser Trek 2010 is full. If you have not sent us your application yet, then hang onto you fees checks and send just the app. We will hold them in a waiting list status (first come first served) in case we have dropouts over the next few months.

Mark, my pm box has room now.

New: Facebook Group

An 'Alaska Cruiser Trek 2010' group has been set up on facebook. It is intended to be a way for everyone attending next year's event to get to know one another better before the trip. Membership is limited to only those people who have received confirmation that their application has been accepted. Privacy settings have been restricted to only registered individuals and their copilot(s) as a precautionary measure...

For individuals familiar with the facebook platform, do a search for 'Alaska Cruiser Trek 2010' and you should be able to find it. If anyone has any problems joining, send me a PM or an email to ratpuke@gmail.com and I'll hook you up.

Looking forward to 'meeting' you all soon.

When I search in Facebook, all I get is web results... does this mean I'm a reject? :o I mean for ACT, not in general.....

Hmmm.....:hhmm: :censor:

It was working. I'll see if I can figure out how to fix it so that it comes up when you search groups.

In the meantime, send me a friend request (on facebook) or a PM here with your email addy and I'll hook you up. :grinpimp:

Invites sent. Let me know if you were missed. Thanks.

Here are some pics of Palmer Creek Vally. Plans are fluid, but thinking that we may finish up the trek with an overnighter up here? It is not off road travel... Highway and then one lane dirt up to the top of the Valley. But it is completely ignored by most people know know of it... and it is known of by surpriingly few. The areas up in the peaks which are not pictured here make these pics look ugly! :)

This and Archangel valley are different enough from what we will be traveling in for the main event, and they are beautiful enough that it will be an excellent addition to the trip for all.

Okay, enough of these. The next pics I post will be from the trail and specifically from past Cruiser Treks showing spots we will be driving through this time around. :)
