I’ve searched everywhere for this problem and apparently I’m the only person in the world that has it 😂.

My alarm “arms” itself about 75% of the time after everyone gets out and closes the doors and we leave it unlocked for some time (sometimes it seems to happen shortly after getting out and sometimes longer..). This has been very annoying because I’ll often go out to the car without a fob to grab something (knowing it’s unlocked) and the alarm will sound. Based on my research this is not a feature on the 2013 lx570. It can only be armed when the car is locked.

A few other details. The alarm takes about 5 seconds to sound after opening the door. It happens with every door. The alarm indicator shows solid when this occurs so it seems to be purposeful.

Are you sure this is the factory alarm? If it’s aftermarket I’d rip that thing out asap.

The fact that you can open any doors with the alarm armed suggests this isn’t the factory system misbehaving.

I’m taking it to an after market audio/alarm shop this week but I’m attempting to figure it out before I have to spend any money. I don’t even know where to look in the vehicle to determine what type of system it has. Does anyone have knowledge of this system?

I’d spend the money and go ahead with taking it to an aftermarket alarm shop. They will know where to look and how to remove the specific brand someone else apparently installed in the past.

Agreed. If you have a basic understanding of toyota wiring it's generally pretty easy to identify the aftermarket stuff and remove it.. but without that understanding, you'd be taking a big risk.
