Remove the small bolts to take dial off.
Then remove acorn nuts around hub.
Lube up the studs with PB Blaster or something.
Get a brass bar or brass punch ONLY.
Smack the studs hard with a hammer using the brass bar to make the contact with the stud.
Do not bang on hub! You will dent it all up!
The studs have cone washers around them that are a pain to get off unless you use the above method.

There is also a lock ring that is located on the axle shaft. Lock ring pliers work best, the ones with the "duck bill" tips.

Invest the money now on a decent set of lock ring (NOT SNAP RING) pliers from your local auto parts store (while you are there get a seal puller (looks like a axe that need some viagra)) and do this right.... Ask me how I know and about the cut in the crook of my finger that has finally just healed some 4wks later.

I've been trying to find "lock ring pliers" online, and can't. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places? Any suggestions? Could you post a pic (I've never seen them before). Thanks.

The shop manual gives a good description of how to R&R those parts...and I think their is a maintenance supplement or and addendum to the manual that I acquired somewhere that has a good set of instructions and illustrated drawings/pics.

Sorry for the newbie question, but what's "R&R" mean?

R&R is Remove and Replace (I believe)
I found mine lockring pliers at NAPA for like $10 and they worked beautifully, same with the real puller. Spent like an hour trying to get the damn seal out with a screwdriver and mallet, took all of 20 seconds with the seal puller.

Yes....common shop talk...R&R = Remove and Replace, R&I = Remove and Install
