Hello you guys, My friend wants us to install an AC into his 1971 FJ55. Does anyone know if COOL CRUISER SYSTEM or VINTAGE AIR will fit that year FJ55? It has a 2F in it. Also, any other suggestions on which AC to use? Thanks.

Scrapdaddy,

Have you put together a parts list and plan yet? Are you using it for heat as well? I definitely wanted to install a/c, but was going to use the original heater set up. That said, maybe it would be easier to go brand new on both.

I have not put a list together, yet. I'll let the pros do that. I'm going to contact Cool Stream and let them design it. The old air system has it's own heater, ac and defrost. It looks almost like the stock heater.

I already have the compressor on the chevy motor, so won't need that. Shouldn't be a big deal to put together.

Here's his link. http://www.coolstreamac.com/

I believe the gentleman at Coolstream is Rex, and a super nice guy.

He assisted me in putting together a drier relocate for my 80, even though he was well aware I wasn't purchasing anything.

Have opted for the less efficient, but OE route on mine, but in researching, think the way Ron's is set up is the best means to address from an efficiency standpoint, by far.
