Hi All,
My air conditioner on my 97 40th anniversary cruiser is making a grinding noise when it kicks on and I'm thinking it's probably time for a rebuild. Is it possible to rebuild these or do I need to buy a newly rebuilt one? If so where is the best place to get one?

Thanks,

Chris

Most of the parts can be replaced. Check out Coolstream, a vendor on here. They have the parts and some DIY vids on you tube that look pretty straight forward.

If the grinding noise is inside the compressor, re-sealing it won't be a cure, time to replace. If the noise is the pulley bearing, that's a pretty simple job. Replace the drier, any easily accesible o-rings and the service port schraders while you've got it apart. New Denso compressor is $260.61 the drier is $20.94, schraders are $2.80 each (x3) and an o-ring set is $7.63. Let me know if you need more info.

Got a related question.... When A/C clutch off, pulley spins fine. When A/C clutch engaged, pulley wobbles and makes a slight bearing noise. Can the wobble be adjusted or is it a part replacement issue?

The vidoes posted above were an excellent reference used for my Denso compressor rebuild. These things are pretty easy to rebuild.

Anybody know parts id gasket kit for the body of the a/c compressor?
