I recently finished installing a set of IPF J01 combo driving/fog lights on my 80. Drove with them early this morning, the driving lights appear to cast at or below the low beams--and I didnt' get any brights flashed at me on the way to work--so I assume they're aligned OK. They don't really add that much other than a tiny bit of light to the sides.
The fogs cast a well cut-off light down low.

I've seen a guy run with his aux lights cross-eyed (pointed in). He said the idea was to get wider dispersion without getting an empty spot in the middle.

Would it be worth trying the cross-eyed approach to get more effect out of the driving lights?

Opinions?

Hayes, we need to know the goal of the lighting.

For reference I do a lot of back road mountain driving and absolutely HATED the blowback I would get when I dipped down into a valley. You can't see anything up the other side of the valley until you're there. I also hated the blowback associated with tighter turns on those roads. Therefore I aimed my Hella 4000's high and out. This helped immensly with the valley issue. I can now see up the opposite side much sooner than before. Pointing them out a bit did help a little with the side to side blowback, but not enough. I'm considering getting a cheap set of Hella 500's to aim at almost a 45* angle so I really light up the sides well.
