AHC Accumulator or old fluid / B&B vs toyota

They are $446 & $474 on Conicelli Partznet | Used dealership in ,

You have to search under 2006-07 Land Cruiser since they were not an option on LC's before those years.

You will get more personalized service if you go through one of the vendors on mud. Just search discount Toyota parts.

Just so I am 100% clear, 2006-2007 Toyota Cruser Susp accumulators will work on my 1999 LX 470.

How do I search for a vendor on this site. I want to support the folks that keep this site running.

I ended up going back to the local dealer and asked him if he could match the $430 price and they did. I should have them this weekend.

Not bad, Lexus wanted $636 by buying from Toyota and matching the internet price down to $430 for a factory part.

Dealers will rape you if you let them. No offense to any dealers reading this, but their bad reputation for ripping people off is well-deserved.

(That's why they're called "stealers"...)

Any idea how much CDan charges for the spheres? I told my wife (LX is the wife's DD) if the AHC dies after the warranty is up (only 6 months left on it), we're going to replace it w/ a OEM LC suspension w/ Bilstein shocks. If you bought all the parts new over the web, it comes to around $1300 plus labor, so no more expensive than having the dealer install new spheres.

I picked up my new globes from Toyota, Just a few quick questions before I install this weekend.

How much harder is this to do on jack stands vs. a lift?

Should I change the fluid out before I swap out the accumulators? I am worried about getting the old fluid into the new parts.

You could do it without any of those - if you don't mind lying on your back. To get clearance you could just drive the wheels on to some 4" wooden blocks (4"x6" or 2 4x4). Then, when you let the pressure out through the bleeder, you will drain some of the fluid. You can adjust the amount of fluid to drain by letting it drop from Lo, N or Hi setting. You will also drain some fluid after changing the spheres, because you need to bleed air. If you put it on jack stands you will not be able to bleed much.

There is a dirty joke in there somewhere. :p

I am just trying to make sure I don't get crushed. Then no one will be able to post pics of my install.

So this is what I am planning. I am going to drive up on to something 4-8" high for the front wheels.

Drop the suspension to L, open bleeder to relieve the pressure, remove accumulator with strap wrench install new one hand tight. Repeat for other side.

Drive off the blocks.

Follow standard bleeding instructions posted earlier in this thread.

How does that sound?

You'll just have to start the engine to pump up the pressure before doing the 2nd side, if part of the purpose is to get rid of some old fluid.
Don't forget to top up the reservoir.

I couldn't get mine off with a strap. Just kept sliding off. Had to get a 36 mm open ended.

Well the job is done thanks to everyone here at IH8MUD!!!!

I’d say over all this was easier than I ever thought it would be. If you can change a brake caliper this should be no problem. (With the right tools…)

Here is what I did. I went down to NAPA and picked up a 36mm fan clutch wrench. It fit perfectly!

They had this in stock in a larger set and broke it out for me. If anyone wants to use it just shoot me an e-mail at v12mac at yahoo dot com (you can decode that, trying to keep the spam down) and I’ll mail it out to you as long as you send it back.

Drained off the pressure and remove globe.

Didn’t have a turkey baster or syringe so I sucked out all the fluid I could get out of the system with this

Photo-0016.jpg

The hose fit in the hole snug and I could squeeze out air and make a slight vacuum that would draw the fluid out. The hose only is in the top ¼ inch or so, that keeps me from squeezing any back out of the bottle.

Bleed out the system as much as I could. I really would have liked to have a 2nd can of fluid to really flush the system but the Toyota dealer only had 1 in stock. I’ll re-flush and bleed when I can get another fresh can. By the way I got the AHC fluid for 40 bucks at Lexus down from 70, and the accumulators from Toyota for 430 down from 636 at Lexus. Not too shabby.

Miller time!

12oz ain't worth open' boy.

thank you all for the great information above in this forum.
I have a 1999 LX470 and I am in need of accumulators.
I was amazed at how much they cost for a part that is the size of your fist.

I called Conicelli Parts and they gave me the part numbers for a 2006 LC accumulators.

from the info above, you say that 2006 LC accumulators will fit a 1999 Lexus LX470.
the part numbers i got from Conicelli are for a Front right & left and Read right & left.
I called back my local Lexus dealer and asked for the part numbers from them.
They told be that there were only a front and rear part number and it was for both sides of the lexus.

so my question is even thou the LC has 4 part numbers and the Lexus has only 2 part numbers for the accumulators that this is correct and I can order the ones from Conicelli Toyota and they will fit like a dream.
Oh and yes, they sell them for $437.70 each unlike Lexus for $682.00 each.

There are 4 different "accumulator assemblies" (the thing with the heatsinks that comes before the accumulator). And those have even changed from year to year. But there are only two types (front and rear) of accumulators (the sphere thingies) for all years and makes.

Citroen Spheres Q

Anybody has an opinion on the ones being sold by Bay user kjs500? Claims to be new, made by Citroen, with adapters for LC and LX and 100% compatible. Around $900 shipped from UK for all four.
TIA
