That is not correct

Lexus has routinely sold CPO with fender benders on carfax

Here is my personal ISF I owned and bought new. I was hit in 2009. It’s in carfax.

I dumped car in 2011, at which time lexus dealer did CPO

2008 Used Lexus IS F Lexus IS-F Sport Sedan at Europlus Motorsports Serving North Brunswick, NJ, IID 17111109

Additionally there is a huge thread on clubkexus now about 3 people who bought CPo to later find out accident cars. One is suing Lexus of Austin right now to get them to take the RX back

Per club lexus (there is verified chat with lexus representatives), they will CPO a car with 4 panels being repainted

We bought our IS250C as CPO last summer and that is what the dealer (Lexus of Towson MD) told us, that once it has an accident they won't do CPO. Maybe it's a dealer decision, but they led me to believe that it was Lexus Corporate with the rule. I have been over the car very carefully and I can find no evidence of paint work at all, no masking marks or overspray. All of the body panels have the factory VIN tattoos. I really only wanted CPO for this car due to the insanely complicated convertible roof mechanism.

This is true - we purchased a CPO Lexus and it had a blemish on the CarFax as well - but photos were shown and it was a minor scratch.

It is also routine for Lexus to re-spray the front bumpers of cars they CPO because they claim Lexus requires it. The sad part is they have monkeys prepping and re-spraying their cars. I saw a number of CPO cars on the lot with overspray on the lights, wheel wells, etc...
Yup... CPO sadly isn’t what it’s marketed as ...

As you know we bought a ISC last year too with 8,100 miles CPO

Went over with fine tooth comb

That said as I have given personal experience before, plenty of lexus CPo after carfax crash :)

At the end buyer needs to do due diligence

$19500 damage, did not even dent the sheet metal. Just took off the front clip along with headlights radar plus ding in the radiator fin replace radiator and the transmission cooler was replaced and of course the horns. Told the wife we are now married to this beast until it dies because of the plunge in value. But it’s actually better than new because with 25,000 miles it now has all new front new OEM radiator etc. Plus my insurance company warranty all replaced parts for as long as I own this vehicle. Always best to look at the positive side ;)

Curious, and not wanting to do any real work this afternoon, I did some poking around on cars.com. Here is proof that an accident on Carfax doesn't necessarily mean no CPO on resale:

2016 200-series offered as CPO, yet with an accident on the linked Carfax: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/726319022/overview/

So I guess I need to retract my earlier post. Apparently that dealer lied to me. I'm sure that's the first time in history that's ever happened.

Exactly. Which is why I posted proof of my own personal ISF earlier in this thread, that I got in accident with in 2009, and dealer sold in 2011 with CPO ;)
