Final Update - Dealer Praise

Well, I finally got the cruiser to the shop for all of the preventive maintenance. Toyota of Plano, the same dealer that inspected my cruiser pre-purchase, did the 90k service (which BTW is more extensive in TX than standard, due to our climate) and the timing belt replacement and they did an incredible job! I highly recommend them to anyone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Upon further inspection of the rear end the mechanic discovered that the rear axle seals needed to be replaced and given that this was overlooked during the initial inspection, the dealer decided to replace these and the rear brake pads at no cost. :bounce:

It's hard to find a company today that without argument will accept accountability for a mistake, own up to it and then follow through and do the right thing. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the customer service at this dealership. It's as good as, if not better, than what I've received at Audi and Infiniti service departments.

The cruiser is running even better now and I'm really loving it. She's ready for the mods!

That is great. Never heard of anything like fixing the rear seals and brake pads for free because they missed them on a purchase inspection.

I've been using 89 octane in my 99 for a year (24k miles) and not a single problem. Mileage was the same with 89 as it was with 91 or 93.

99 Lc

Sorry for the off the wall post. I was reading on page two where you guys were talking about octane use. Anyway, I've had my 99 for a year now. I bought it with 42k miles from a doctors wife, and in perfect shape. I replaced the awful Dunlop Grand Tecs with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos in the 275/70-16 and I have yet to get it stuck. I even sunk it up to the wheel wells in mud, stop completely, and it was still able to get out (though it took a little while).
What modifications are you planning on doing? I'd like to put a lift on, with larger tires. Nothing crazy, but something. What do you guys recommend, and tell us how much this affects mileage? I've been getting 15-17 around town, and 18-19 highway. This seems high compared to others, but I'm a really easy driver, and only use the power when I really need to. Also, I noticed a 1-2 mpg increase when I installed the K&N Cold Air Intake. Has anyone else noticed this? I can't really notice any power increase, but the throttle response has definitely change (greater modulation).

Anyway, that was quite a few questions. Congrads on you LC purchase!!

I would suggest you do the timing belt and the water pump and the other belts and hoses since you are over the 6 year change interval. I bought a 99 with 58K miles and did the belts and hoses and timing belt and water pump. Good thing since the timing belt had only 10-20K miles left and the water pump was seeping. Time is as important as mileage that's why Toyota has it in its service intervals. Just a heads up.
