Ace Rust stop paint

How do you thin this paint to spray it with a gravity fed HVLP gun?? Do use a hardener and a thinner like acetone??

afaik mineral spirits thins it...you can add hardner also...i hear it helps

In HVLP I always use a "one drip per second" off the end of the mixing stick.

the splution that worked well

Using a Harbor Frt HVLP gravity feed gun I found that a 50 /50 mix sprayed very well. ie, 50 paint and 40 thinner and 10 hardner

I am thinking of painting my 42 with Ace and i have 3 questions
1-what thinner/mineral spirits are compatable with Ace
2-what brand of hardner should i use
3-the 1 drip per second,when do you start timing the drips after stirring?

I used ace mineral spirits.I learned that very little hardner[ maybe 10%][tractor supply] and the rest of the thinner made up 50% or the material in the cup.The paint sprayed well with this ratio.You gotta play with the thinner ,ie ,add a little at a time to get the consistency you need

Yup, 50/50 works here as well. You should be able to check on the Ace can what to use to thin it. Sometimes they say Acetone (Rustoleum does) and sometimes mineral spirits. Either should work.

Any enamel hardener will work. If there is a Tractor Supply store in your area they should carry it.

What is the best primer to use with Ace paint,do they have their own primer and is it sandable and self etching?
