In my attempt to change my front rotor this morning I accidentally took apart the front caliper by removing the four smaller bolts instead of the 2 large ones.

Is there any problem with putting them back in and going on my way? I saved the washer around the brake fluid window. With as cheap as the remanufactured ones are, should I just replace it? Is there any problem with two different calipers on the front if I replaced this one and kept the original?

Thanks.

I'm not familiar with LC brakes at all so I can't answer your question about putting the caliper back together. However, I've always operated under the assumption that calipers should be replaced in pairs just like the rest of the brakes. If you end up needing to replace the caliper you took apart, replace both of them.

You can put them back together, just bleed the brakes prior to driving off.

the calipers have a tendency to leak when split like that so when I split mine for the rebuild, I just out a very thin coating of RTV to seal it

They will leak. Unless you want to be doing it again, I'd get a QUALITY pair of reman'd calipers.

There's a reason why SOR has this on their site:

SOR puts that there to cover their.... How can it be properly rebuilt if it can't be split? How about the remaned ones, the remanufactures have to split them right?
I've come across this with another brand and I've been rebuilding them successfully for years, just be sure to get brake fluid compatible o-rings.

are you kidding me???? just get some new "O" rings from toyota clean the surface well, add some tune up grease to the new "O" rings and put her back together, it comes apart for a reason(to change/service pistons) so i see no reason you would "have" to replace it...

Hi, I made the same mistake of separating the front calliper and was resreaching and luckily found your post. I already cleaned them up and put them back but did not put thread locker. Currenlty it is torqued to 50 lb ft but online recommendations are atleast 71 ft lb for 17mm one but what about the smaller 14m ? I have it currently torqued it to 37 ft lb. Kindly advise.
