for 134 retrofits I was taught this(long ago, things may have changed)

1. If keeping the R-12 compressor, drain as much mineral oil as you can and refill with ester oil, never use PAG, change all o-rings.

2. Best scenario would be to change to a 134a compressor, remove all traces of mineral oil, refill with PAG, change all o-rings

obviously always change the drier

I've done two conversions, an 89 22re and an 86 f250. Both times I pulled everything and cleaned it all and put new o rings on. Used the same compressors each time and both are still going strong.
