this post is a longtime coming. i have promised many i would get this posted, and here it finally is.

first off, there are many rack options and gutter mount available out there. i looked and researched them all extensively and even bought one of the more popular brands to start off with. after mounting that up i decided first and foremost that it was not going to be strong enough to carry what i was planning on hauling. and second, i did not like the way they fit in the gutters and tweaked the area it was mounted on. the span was to wide and did not fit in between the rivets on the bottom half and the top part was way to narrow and did not butt up to raingutter lip like i thought it should. once mounted up if i started rocking it back and forth the bottom would slip off the rivets and become loose. they were returned.

that said i started looking again and came across aatlas1x post and eventually his vendor page. i immediately liked what i saw. full contact on both top and bottom that fit in between the rivets of the raingutter. and they looked to be well built. i contacted shane with a few questions and got immediate reply answering my questions. let me say that shane was great to deal with and was there to help with any question i had. he sent detailed instructions on mounting including pictures for people like me.

i decided to order a set of four with the mounting bracket for my yakima bars i had from a previous vehicle. ordering was easy as can be. i told shane what i would like, he invoiced me with link to pay thru paypal. quick, simple, easy. just what i like.

i few days later, this is what i received in the mail

nows the time i get to mount them on top. i first marked where and how far apart i was going to mount each. once that was done, it was time to put the first one in the gutter to see how it worked.

i like how it looks, fits between rivets perfectly, and has a rock solid grip on the raingutter.

it was at this point i got excited and mounted all four brackets without taking any pictures of the process.

the brackets come with your choice of either an allen head or a t40 security head to tighten the brackets to the gutter. i chose the t40 and that was the only part of this whole process that was not supplied by shane. easy solve as most auto parts stores carry this bit.

mounting this whole set up was quick and easy as per shane instructions. once the brackets were mounted on the raingutters, now came the bar brackets and the bars. i remember to take a few pictures of this.

once this is done it all starts to come together quickly and i was seeing the rock solid mount for what is it. i centered the bars and started tightening everything done in the order shane said to. within a few minutes they were on and not going anyplace. the camming action of tighten the bars down to any and all play out oth equation. i could now grab the bars and shake and rock the entire vehicle!!

the rest of the pictures are just various shots of the finished mounts. overall i could not be happier with my choice. shane was great work with and was there the whole way to answer questions. i just hope my write up does his product justice as they truly deserve it. he took what i saw as a problem with the various mounts out there, re engineered it to better fit the need. thanks shane.

Hey Bones, look great. I met you on the street one day while visiting Bend. Looks great on your 40. I will take your advise on getting a set of these for my 60! Well done,

Thanks for posting such detailed pics - Id already decided I wanted to go with AATLAS1X LabRak mounts, your pics have confirmed that I was making the right decision..now if only you could drop some hints to my huz about how much I really REALLY need them!:D

BTW - BEAUTIFUL 40 and thanks again for the pics!!

Very cool. I just got the engineering drawings for the rack I designed and it is getting built now. These will be great for mounting.

Do you know if Shane would be willing to laser cut a custom design into the visible face instead of the "R" (at least that's what it looks like on the iPhone.

We have a family brand for the horses and that would make a cool custom bracket.
