Rotate the engine to TDC
Mark the distributor base where the #1 spark plug is.
Remove the distributor cap and the rotor should point to the mark
If it’s 180* out rotate the engine one revolution and check the mart again

Another check is to look at the bolt that clamps the distributor in place. After 30 years there is an obvious witness mark. Since you installed the original distributor back in the bolts washer should align with that mark. If it doesn’t, it’s not installed properly.

Got some drive time in today, finally. The Idle was still a bit rough initially, CEL was on. But after I continued driving, the idle smoothed out and it felt more like it used to...and the CEL cleared.
One thing is my speedometer needle has slacked and doesn't seem to work until a few minutes into driving. More just an annoyance than anything.
