I've been on this site more than my wife ever since I discoverd it. Ha ha This site has helped me enourmously. I found out about and purchased new rear three point belts for the kids, just today I bought some deadner material from second skin. etc... I bought this 72 basket case last year and have rebuilt the 2F motor and sent the four speed trans and transfer case out for new bearings and seals. New centerfource dual friction clutch, and on and on... So here are some questions I have thus far. The trans cover did not fit and I figured the po had just thrown something in from another model after going from the three speed to four. I bought what I believe to be the correct tunnel cover from someone on this site and when it cam it fits the same way:confused: It does not look to me like the sheet metal around the tunnel has been hacked but I'm no auto body guy even though I'm working on replacing some of the rotted floor for my first time.
Can someone enlighten me please?
Second question: what is this white with red stripe wire for? I'm guessing a/c.Here is a shot of the interior Ha Ha! By the way in the passanger side front interior panel there are two black switch boxes? What do they control?
Thanks in advance for your input. BTW I'm looking for a insulator blanket that goes on the firewall and a floor mat if anyone has them around.

I know the floorboards changed sometime between 70 and 72-73, I swapped in a floor shift and was going to use a precut tunnel and the shape on the driver side was different.

Mines a 72 so if I get a tunnel cover from a 70 or so I should end up with one that fits?

Anyone with an early style tunnel cover they want to part with?

I just removed the passanger side body door trim and which still had the origional aluminum caps on the floor. Its real ugly under there and rusted through right thru to the wheel well. Damm, now I have both sides to do!

I'll double check the differnce this weekend when I dig out those other parts.

tranny hump differences

the one installed is a 1970.
the first one not installed is a 72 or 73 notice it sticks out alittle bit by the middle bolt hole.
the last pic is the 72/73 ontop of a 76. notice the 76 is almost flat along the lower edge. both stick out the same near the middle hole
