Hey folks:

I'm getting ready for a diesel swap and am starting to map my wiring and remove things I won't need once the diesel is in. Can I just remove my a/c compressor belt now and continue to drive the rig without doing damage?

I've checked the FSM and inspected the a/c system and can't find any reason I need to have the compressor hooked up (other than wanting a/c). Is this correct?

Thanks.

Yes. I road around with mine off for about 4 months when my AC was on the frits.

Thanks Rookie2. That's what I thought. I did this on an 91 subaru but just wanted to make sure. I'm very new to the 80 series (did a 60 swap), so still learning my way around this rig.

I assume you know this, but make sure you have all the refrigerant properly evacuated from the system before you open it up.

Thanks for the heads up. I won't be opening it up until I'm ready to pull the motor, but thought I'd disconnect the belt now if there is no issue.
