Just a couple of driveway shots, nothing exciting. Thought you might like a close up of the step-sliders. Landpimp did a great pictorial on these in an earlier thread.

Looks good. Did you do the OME T-Bars? I didn't see it listed in your description.

Also, what's that leaking in the driveway? Or is that from the Boxter? :D

3rd,
Your Crusier had almost the same path as my 4Runner did. As for the protection vs functional mods go, this is how I look at it.

Lockers and all of that are nice, (*I know everyone uses their rig differently and this is MY take on it*) but I never go wheeling alone. I will always have someone to give me a tug. I would rather protect my vehicle first, then as my ability as a driver and bank account allow... add the mods that turn this into a mall cruiser into a really capeable rig. I don't know if you have heard of tellico, but I made it through all the easy/medium trails at tellico with my Runner w/o any lockers (other than center). Honestly, I wouldn't want to take my DD on any trails crazier than that. If I had a trailer queen that would be a totally different story. Just my thoughts... Plus, the protection works in both street use as well as on the trail. How many times are you going to use a locker on the street?
As for the rack, all they do is get in the way, espcially on truck so big. I don't know what the trails are like out in CALI but our trails are all wooded and tend to have low trees. The basket is a great idea, I loved mine! But it also killed my milage and did get in the way from time to time. Just my .02... You have one nice looking truck! Keep up the good work!

I can't say enough about the quality and praticality of the steps. Prior to the purchase I had a tough time deceiding between the Sliders or these Step/sliders. Acess to the vehicle for other family members was the deciding factor, so I went with the Step/sliders. 'm glad I did.
I'll echo 3rd Cruiser's thoughts about the Slee Step sliders except that I have them for the LX. The difference with the LX is that there are only 2 outriggers per slider rather than three. The reason is the AHC suspension components are in the way. But there was no other way to do it and with 2 outriggers it still seems plenty strong. The steps are lower profile than I had thought (which is good). They seem to stick out as much as the running boards but don't hang as low. So, it's not as easy for the passengers to get in and out as running boards but good enough. I highly recommend them.

Thanks. Yes I did the OME T-Bars as part of the lift. Got about 11/2" lift in the front and 13/4"in the rear. Thats typical according to ARB. Still fine tuning the front, may bring it up a bit more. I cranked them up a bit too much the first time and that was not a good highway handeling experience.

Oh come on Macneil, you know 100's don't leak. And nope, not the wife's car either.

Typical dribble after an oil change because of my slanted driveway.

Maybe a good thread to post my first trail experience a couple fo weeks ago. stock '00 LX. We decided to go hiking in a forest with lots of snow. So, I drove in as far as I could. Branches were hitting the car everywhere, but it was fun. I was surprised to see that flex on the rear axle, when I was parked. We hardly noticed this during driving in.

The real fun came later. I scouted a way out over a frozen road with lots of mud underneath. I used a stick, and found there was about one fout of water/mud underneath the 1" thick ice. My plan was to drive on the side of the road on the driver side, and drive on the middle (higher and dryer) on the right side. There was a lot of camber, which the wife didn't like.... So, I backed up, and just went for it. Straight through the middle. We heard the ice cracking everywhere. It was pretty impressive.

While plowing through this a Honda CRV with some fellow "off-roaders" was waiting for me. They had already decided that they would not be able to make it. But we got lots of support from them. They were screaming and had there thumps up. Probably the first time they saw a Lexus in the mud like that. ;-)

I liked it. Maybe too much. Now I want more, deeper and steeper....

I'd have to say the same for the CRV, who knew a civic could wheel!? ;) Be careful, next thing you know you'll be wanting to lift it and put on 35s!!

Do I really need 35s? I have a second set of rims (steel) coming, and I was thinking about buying BFG A/T KO 285/75/R16's for those.

No, but eventually you are going to 35's. Might as well get them now! :D
