I think it's a fairly well known work around, downy. The silicone is what helps and is a common industrial defoamer. Kevin doesn't advise it due to water content in the fabric softener.

I’m just thinking it’s funny how when us operators were “really bummed” when we each had to hot-swap those diaphragm pumps.

Each came with a ~6oz. Flip cap dropper that we’d just take home since it was the best firearm lube you could find, bar none.

I finally consolidated mine to a new/empty jar - I just keep it with all my more precision tools & small items for all the other hobbies that intersect like the nitro R/C truck, fishing reels & general tackle, etc.
Now I know another use for my pure silicone oil.

I’m just smart enouffff to know I don’t know what viscosity my oil is.

It’s awesome lube for toys with lands & grooves, and all the other I mentioned ;)

—I’m just amazed Mr T endorsed the “little giggling blue bear” as a PS fluid solution.

Yep, maybe not bat$hit crazy, but it's one of the Toyota things I don't agree with. Silicone works well, but water is about the last thing that I would put in the system. Any moisture tends to sink to the bottom, in this case, the steering box, causes a rust pit/ring around the sector, at the seal location. In mild cases it needs to be polished, extreme cases can ruin the sector and/or the seal area of the housing.

:meh: - That is truely the best response I have.
I’m amazed at Toyota putting that in a TSB.

Seriously- Thanks Kevin. No salt, no shade. I’m blown away.

I’m simply amazed nearly to the level I was as a pre-teen when I heard about the “egg in the slightly damaged radiator/coolant system” -that sounded silly.

I’d LOVE to hear who was the innovator who came up with sticking the little blue bear’s “blue goo of giggle sauce” -in the antifreeze to the point Mr. T took notice & approved a TSB with it.

I wonder how much is supposed to be the initial “dosage”?
-1oz?
-1/4cup?

You all must have about laughed yourselves silly in the shop seeing that one.

That just seems silly like putting motor oil in your washing machine (IMO).

Tangential but on subject - I know Armorall has silicone in it (but water too) - I’m curious what fluid is higher silicone & no water.

-Would syl-glide grease work as a grease introduced?

-Any other silicone in a oil suspension anybody can think of?

———— Just spitballing, as I never thought to use anything but real top-tier fluids in the tight systems like PS, Antifreeze, Brake system, A/C, even the transmission.
