I have a new to me 97 Landcruiser that is shifting hard from 1st to second especially at low speeds 5-20 mph. Read a lot on here and I am thinking it is a selenoid issue. I saw guys were say they were like 200.00 each but I saw on eBay a rebuild kit for the A343F for less than a 100.00 but it is saying it is for the 2000 cruiser. Do they have the same tranny, would it work, do they have the same selenoids? Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my first time posting.

So the one tranny that has issues, is the one used in 93-94 the A442F not the 95-97 A343F is what ypou have, I would not start throwing parts at it, first check the kick down cable, then if that doesn't solve it, you may have a TPS issue ( throttle positioning sensor), also check your fluid

If it’s shifting solenoids not the issue. The “kick down” as typically discussed has nothing to do with shift points. It is a throttle position reference that controls line pressure. If it is too tight you will have firmer shifts. The tps sensor does have some input into when it shifts. Adjusting that can lighten the deal of the shift by having it shift sooner.

Both look like they need adjusted.

On a side note I used aw4 solenoids from a Jeep, they cross-reference to the 95-97 a343f. The a343f used in 98-2002 (maybe 2003 before the 5 speed auto was introduced) uses a modified valve body adding 4th solenoids for line pressure control with the computer. Not sure of the other 3 solenoids are the same

Shifting on it's own, automatically, shows the solenoid is working. What does "hard" mean, firmer than you would like? If so, backing off the cable may help.

Hey guys thanks so much for the info. The shifting is much more than just firm shifts it feels like it has a really aggressive shift kit. If I get on it off the line then shifts good all through the gears. But if I am sitting in stop and go traffic it shifts really hard out of first to second even third is a little hard if I am cruising really slow. I will try to adjust the cable and see if that helps...Thanks again you guys are awesome.

By the way this is my new 80😁😁
