I feel this way too or maybe a combo of TPS and IAC. The TPS malfunctioning would affect both idle and throttle conditions, i think.I'm thinking TPS.
yea my distributor def isnt OEM then, I will put a replacement on the short list, especially if there is oil. I did replace the rotor and cap already. This is a photo from another thread recently that shows what an OEM rotor looks like. I don't know if there have been changes to the rotor over the years but it looks like someone replaced the original with what you have. I could be wrong, but both my 97 lc and lx look like what @george_tlc posted.
Yes, I prefer an unlit propane torch. All you are doing is using the engine vacuum at idle to see if there is a hole or crack that will admit more fuel. This is what I did prior to replacing mine, it was just too fragile. How would I Check with carb cleaner in place? Just spray all around it to see if I notice a change in rpm?
Has the problem stayed away? I am fighting similar symptoms in my 93, however so far they have been mostly at idle. Planning on changing plugs/wires this weekend to see what happens. All my parts came in and I replaced the plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, o-ring little gasket for the cap. everything from Mr. T except i got the distributor used from a Mud Member.
I drove it yesterday about 30 miles and then again today to work. So far the hesitation is gone but I fell for this once before, I guess time will tell. I will post back here in a week or so if it is still gone.
Yes so far so good I have been putting a lot of miles on and no issue. Just got done driving it for a 2 hour LA drive in traffic just now. No engine issuesHas the problem stayed away?
