Weld on a new tower.

What ship used it as an anchor?
Was looking for a new tower on line but couldn’t find one, any sources for the part. It lived in Minnesota and Michigan it’s whole life 30 years of road salt.

Ah so the Edmund Fitzgerald…

You can either cut one off from a donor or go aftermarket with a generic link tower but most link towers are 2” or 2.625” widths.

Local shop may even be able to make you something.

Get a new housing. I'm surprised the panhard bracket didn't rip off first. Might want to consider having someone go at it with a sandblaster to see what's left of everything else. This is only the beginning.

Man a cheese sandwich will will cause that thing to crumble into dust, don’t even need a sand blaster.

Here's a thread from a month ago, gives a great rundown on what it would take to rebuild the tower.

Honestly, I'd take a long & hard look at everything else on your rig before taking on too much expense...lots of other parts look close to failure to me right off.

Any good welder fabricator can make that from scratch really easy, and can also advise you whether it's even possible or worth it to weld on that housing, and take a quick look around and evaluate what else is about to fall off.

Did it really break, or just dissolve?
All kidding aside, everything above is good advice.

We don't get rust like that where I'm at, but years ago I had a young employee with a Nissan hardbody pickup that was mostly iron oxide.

Initially, I was helping him patch something, usually frame, suspension or brake line once per month. But as time progressed it became a weekly thing to keep ahead of the rot.

It was an interesting challenge. Not interested in doing it again though.
