There is an Article in the Fall 2010 issue of Overland Journal that touts the 1995 Disco with the Manual Trans is the best of the breed for rovers. My folks are looking for a "Conch Cruiser" for their winters down here and I could use a spare vehicle for when something happens with the 100, which is rare, but co-ownership of a solid axle'd V8 with a manual transmission is very tempting.

I'm loving my 95 5-Speed, no serious problems as of yet. I have been on several 900-1000mi round trips with it and it has yet to let me down.

Really it all boils down to finding a vehicle that has been maintained well and cared for to some degree. Soccer mom owned vehicles are going to have problems as maintaining a vehicle is an after thought to them.
