Just "came back to the fold" today. I've been driving 100's for the last 4 or 5 years, but I bought a locked '95 today that has some engine "issues." Based on what I believe I'm hearing in the engine, I'm either going to have to rebuild the bottom end or replace it altogether.

My question is: is there such a thing as a "reasonable" source for these short blocks or is there a local trustworthy source to build a new bottom end?

I'm just beginning my due diligence, so any help any of you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks, David

I've got one with under 300k on it sitting in a locked white '94 that I will trade you for the Ferrari.

Or you could put a diesel in it. There are a few threads on the Isuzu, Cummins, and GM 6.2-6.5 swaps. Welcome back. Jes

Jes if he trades for the Ferrari, can Del drive me around in it?
Thanks!

What kinds of engine issues are you having?

Thanks for all of the "kind offers" so far :) Actually, you'd probably be surprised how "reasonably" you can own the subject Ferrari!

From what little I know about the truck so far, I'm guessing it's a rod bearing. When you crank it up, it sounds AWFUL! Then, when the oil pressure comes up, it quiets down considerably. Idling: the noise is almost imperceptible. If you didn't know the engine had issues, you probably wouldn't notice anything unusual about the engine. Highway driving: under load, there's no sound at all....likewise, under full engine deceleration, there's no sound. It's only during that "in between" or steady speed driving that it makes a racket....and it's very noticeable. Also, it's sort of a "light" sound to me. My experience has been that a crank makes a deeper sound than this..........

Basically, I'm just guessing........any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

I know where a few good motors are pm me and ill give you the info.
