Not finding what I'm looking for, so I will just ask. Is there a difference between the length of the frame "horns" between the 91 and 94?

Reason I ask is a friend is helping me weld together my DIY 4x4 Labs front bumper. He was using a 91 to build it on, with us both figuring it should slide onto mine and then finish the final tweaks.

It fits his perfect, however last night we tried a test fit and no way it will fit on mine. It needs slide back a good 1.5", in which it can't becasue of the wings and by time we get that extra distance wouldn't be able to bolt in my Warn 9000.

So are we just being stupid? Totally botched the build? That much difference between the models? Or did we just build a front bumper for a 91? LOL.

Thoughts? I know we can cut it all back apart and start over. Obliviously if we go that route we would build it off my '94.

Just going to guess here....
But just from the pics the DS side is looks tweaked in, you can see it in the pic #2, 3???

Was your buddy's truck ever hit on that side?
No hit, no wrecks. The pics are taken of my truck test fitting the bumping. I had a MT front bumper prior and fit perfect.

Have you checked for a difference in the body mounts between the two trucks...IDK

Have not, when we test fitted the 91 was not around. :(. Short story was hoping someone would say "you're dumbass" and built it wrong. We are headed on a camping trip the next week, so sans bumper.

Just was wondering. When we get back project fix bumper to fit is on.

It'll end up "Custom" and crazy cool. I love that bumper. 4x4 labs rear is on my short list.

You're a dumbass and built it wrong...feel better? I'm going to say they are probably supposed to be close to the same length. You probably won't have too hard of a time cutting it apart and welding it together on your vehicle. Speaking of which I'm assuming the frame mount plates are idiot proof? I have never built one of these, but maybe you have the mounts turned around or wrong sides?

This is just a complete guess, but with different AC components between the years (r12 and r134) and a smaller r12 condenser on the 91, there may be some differences in setup and spacing in that area of the frame and surrounding components....again...complete guess.

I recently put one together. Your inner structure with the uprights, frame brackets and winch plates looks just like mine. I think if your wings were out of the way it would slide back into position. Those semi circles cut on the back side of the upright come very close to the lower valance and grill when the bolt holes line up. Even after lowering my bumper I had to cut out the valance. My fault for making the winch plate horizontal. If I kept it at the regular height of the bumper I think I would have had to remove some grill too. You might just need to work on the wing fitment a little bit. Everything else looks the same as mine did. Good luck. I definitely spent some time cutting and reweld ing a couple (more than a couple) pieces.

Thank you. We are off camping for the weekend. Will tackle again next week. Good to know that we are not too far Off.
