94 4X4 Ext Cab Bed; Will It Fit On 88 4X4 Reg Cab?

Let us know! :D Hehehe

My guess is you will have to move a couple bedmounts.... But it should be close. Have you measured either of the beds? I think the 90+ extra cabs were bigger than the earlier ones, so that may mean less bed in front of the wheel wells....

Yeah, I'll only buy it if I know it'll work, and then I'm not even sure.

The only reason I'd acquire the bed is because it's attached to the 3.0 used engine I may be interested in (wrecked 94, supposedly under 60,000, $1000). The bed I could use on an 88 4 banger, but it needs an engine and has the typical frame rust-out behind driver's door; maybe just parts this out as planned and look for a donor body for a freshly rebuilt 22-RE...

My friend (and lead mechanic on the swap; only mechanic actually, including me) is very much in favor of a used engine swap, but I swear for the same money (or less) I could have the heads redone and the bottom end prepped for rebuild for @ $600 (very highly recommended shop, from different sources), plus the cost of the ENGNBLDR 3.slow kit, @ $400. So for the same geezel, I get a new engine...no brainer, right? My friend's worked at a Toyo dealership, and has low end rebuild experience, but I think it'd just be easier for him to pop in a new engine, but it just doesn't feel right to me.

I know this is a new thread, but what do you'll think?

I have a '94 extra cab and an '88 regular cab. I'm 99.9% sure you can do this bed swap. I can try to compare bed mounts tomorrow in the daytime.

I think I love you, man, but in a most heterosexual, non-threatening kind of way.

Mmm. Okay. :o

I measured all the body mounts and they are the same between the two. the bed should swap over without any problems. I'm willing to bet that the wiring harnesses are the same, but my '88 has a flatbed so I don't have the stock wiring to refer to.

Sweet. Thanks, man.

Can you reinforce the frame (under the bed), or fairly easily get some metal replaced? Also, how'd you make the flatbed?
