Not to beat a dead horse but to beat a dead horse…. As some know the early FZJ80 came equipped with x2 upstream o2 sensors that are a little more critical to engine performance rather the later 95+ models downstream. While you can still get one OEM part number it comes at a cost. With all this said…. My truck currently has a code 21 ( upstream bank 1 O2 sensor ). Now logic would tell you easy solution is to replace upstream sensor. Well PO of this truck rat f*cked the harness. Likely to run non OEM sensors. Appears he grabbed power off of bank 1 harness? ( See photo attached.) Can someone post a photo of there factory harness and colors? I have run the truck with the sensors unplugged in the past. It’ll throw a code 25/26 (Lean/rich) but other than that seems to run fine. Maybe a little rich being closed loop. What I am experiencing is a shutter machine gun feeling in the mid range RPMs when going around the 37-47mph range. It feels like a bunch of mini miss fires. But instantly goes away if I back off the throttle thus telling me it’s ignition related and not driveline or trans. I find it really hard to believe that the o2 sensor is causing this. Can anyone confirm or deny even console me on experiencing something similar? Yes I’ve done my home work. VSV and PAIR removed. Fresh OEM plugs, cap and rotor. EGR bypassed. Harness behind EGR intact and wrapped in heat proof sheathing. Evidence shows I am not concerned with emmisons issues. Which is why I’d like to just eliminate the PIA elusive sensors anyway. Only thing I haven’t done on IGN system would be plug wires. Likely be my next move rather a sensor that may or may not work and is non refundable.

if your going to go with aftermarket sensors ngk is a good option, i ran them on my truck and had no issues. i had an issue with my harness from a bad repair job and just got a pigtail and about 12 in of harness from someone doing a part out

I cant help you with your real question. But i had codes due to the O2 being located down so low where it got so much water and dirt. I had corrosion on the plug contacts. I out in new oew sensors and cleaned the harness side also.

But what i can suggest, since you removed the PAIR is you can mount the up stream O2 in yhe exhaust manifold instead of under the truck. It should bolt right in. I cant remember the details becouse i did it so long ago. But it keeps the sensor and plug much cleaner and dryer.
