I have a 93 3.0 3sve, (well there's your problem) lol, Anyway it runs hot and has overheated once before. the only time it displays these symptoms is at highway speeds 60-70 mph. I've had the radiator out and itlooks to be in real good shape, I'm thinking it's not the original. It has ajn aftermarket electric fan that also seems fine. It has 33's (4wd) and a cap so it's not the most aerodynamic ride. Plenty of OEM Toyota grade rust has also lightened it up a bit. Can someone cool my ride:cool::cool::cool:

Blown head gasket.

Have the head gaskets ever been done?

When was the last time the engine got plugs/wires/cap/rotor and the coolant was changed?

Water pump?

I'd be trying to get a leakdown test done on it.

X2 on the leakdown test.
Check yur oil, if it looks milky and diluted, you just ate a head gasket.
Look at the water pump, is coolant dribbling out the weep hole in the bottom?
Then your pump is shot.
How's it idle?

Hot Ride

All Maintenance good, water pump check, No dairy products in oil, have checked vacuum and it idles and runs great. Thats why it has me stumped,. Compression test showed 145 0n one cyl but it's been that way for a few years. I'm leaning toward Stop leak installed by PO possiblly gobbing up cooling system. Thought maybe someone had same uncool truck??????????

here are some pics of stop leak in an engine...

ewww stop leak, I'd rather fill my radiator with cake batter!

That may just be your problem, I'd definitely second the motion for a flush (or two!) get all that crap broken down.

The heater core in my dad's od S10 took a dive about a year before we got rid of it, and the guy at Napa told us to use stop leak. The heater just dribbled grey gunk all over the passenger side floor, and we had to buy a new water pump, and hoses. I think I'd rather use an egg!

Sounds like the stop leak worked. He sold you a bunch more parts...

Actually, a can of black pepper will also work, and it won't gum up inside the engine. Got me home once, replaced the radiator, and the remainder flushed out really easily.

lol, Mac (Gyver) used an egg...

This is beginning to sound more like a cooking show.
Pull a Bobby Flay and add some yams, haberneros and coconut milk!

Check the radiator cap. If it's not holding pressure, the water will boil at a low temp. Have the radiator inspected, it may have some plugged up cores, and ditch the electric fan.....it ain't worth the few extra ponies if it's not keeping the engine cool. Remember, the fan is not only there to pull air through the radiator, but also to get it out of the engine bay. If you can't feel air coming out from under the truck when parked, the fan is not doing it's job.
