I would try to find another one and swap it on, see if that fixes it. You can take a sharp knife and cut thru that bead of sealant around that black plastic square, peel it open and see if you can find anything wrong.
yea we done that and everything apeared to be fine. but then again, i didnt really know what to look for

You need to be very careful about taking the top off the MAF. There are warnings that if you re-seal it, the fumes can damage the inside. Also, do not use fluid if cleaning inside the throttle body as fluid can get into the TPS and ruin it as well.

ok, just an update. i looked closer under that plastic on my MAF sensor and aparently the guy that took the plug part out to "check it" broke a solder on one of the connections. so i relaced the MAF sensor and now it will idle for as long as i want it to. however, i cant really rev it up right now. it sounds fine to me at an idle but when trying to rev it up it starts missing then backfiring a little through the air filter and blows black smoke out of the tail pipe. my guess is, it isnt firing on one of my cylinders. guess thats where im gonna start tomorrow.. any ideas?

That sounds like a timing problem to me. Try loosening the dist bolt and turning it a little bit, see if it gets better.
