Replaced passenger side headrest female insert with the height adjustment notch. Prior insert had a broken tab. A used set cost $60 on fleebay.

IIRC, those go on the back of the rear bench seat and secure the release bar that secures the seat upright, or allows it to fold down.

Custom leather wrapped steering wheel install was the plan...and as we all say, "when your in it, replace other parts".

So, horn plate and contact pin were purchased.

When removing and replacing clamshell, some of the screw mounts from upper and lower fell apart.

Project slightly detoured to remedy the plastic mount issue.

Clamshell with deteriorating screw mounts. Remedy will be posted when completed.
Used some JB weld for plastic rebuild of the deteriorating screw hole mounts by adhering some plastic washer type pieces.

Had to reorder the horn contact pin part in order to get another pressure clip washer. That piece is so small I lost the first one right when I opened the bag. I lost the original as well when removing the old horn contact pin.

When I got the new part(s), I went to local specialty hardware store and bought 3 extra pressure clip washers. I lost another when when installing. In total, lost 3 clips and I have 2 extra!!

Steering wheel looks and feels great!!

Next project is...installing new OEM dash bezel.

@87CRUSR came across your build thread after searching for and reading through a number of drip rail re-seal/rust prevention posts on the forum. How have your gutters held up over the years? Did you have any rust bubbling to begin with?

My '85 60 has one small rust spot at the rear drivers side gutter as a result of old dried up sealant. Trying to figure out where to have it addressed as I don't have the tools or facilities to do the job. I am also located in southern california (orange county).

I did have some minor bubbling alo g the gutter which caused me to address the issue. Started with scraping out the old sealant. Followed up with a dremel to get a clean metal surface. I had a local body shop apply primer, new sealant and repaint the gutters. I suggest you get some quotes from a few local places. Good luck on the fixes!!
