Hi, I found some new front discs and calipers left over from my 45 project, and am wondering if I can upgrade my IFS with the FJ-82 discs and '92 4-runner 2-piston calipers I have. I had Mini knuckles on my 45's axle for the discs. I know I would need a later larger Master, but wondering if the caliper brackets would work, or if later brackets would bolt up. (one of my current stock discs is warped).

Don't think that 80 series rotors will bolt onto mini hubs. I run 60 series rotors with v6 calipers off an early 90s 4Runner. Great upgrade, all bolt on

Ah! They're 60 series, not 80s, my boo boo. And I remember now they are V6 calipers. Very cool, all I need is a master!

Yeah, I saw "FJ-82" and was wondering what that meant... :confused:

4Runner V6 calipers should be 4-piston. You can also use a 1" master from the same vintage truck, get the booster too.

The only thing left from the original brakes on my '87 is the main line that goes from the front to the rear axle, everything else has been upgraded. Booster, master, front calipers from a V6 truck, front rotors are FJ-60. Wilwood manual prop valve (no residual). SS flex lines. Rears are discs: Sky brackets, Monte Carlo calipers, Chevy truck rotors. E-brake is an old All-Pro Transfer case setup. This truck will easily lock up the tires, but I made the mistake of buying cheapo front rotors from AutoZone last year and now it appears they are warped (bad pulsing when I slam on the brakes).

V6 and 22re rotors are the same, the only thing you have to do is cut about 2 inches off of the brake dust cover from your 4runner to fit the new calipers.
 
Cool, you'll be glad you did a brake upgrade it's day and night difference in stopping power.
