87 FJ60 Combination Meter (instrument cluster) Wiring

I am fixing some old wiring harness issues, specifically my temp gauge and wiring. PO had some issues with the gauge reading and installed a new after market gauge. In that wiring it looks like he clipped the old green wire (see photo) and then ran new wiring etc for the after market gauge. I am trying to figure out where the issue is (gauge, wire or sender). However, I can not tell where the original temp gauge wire plugged in on the connector. Essentially, which slot on the connector should the wire originally have gone into? Thanks.

can you look on the corresponding half of the connection and see which one it would go into?
unless there are more wires in the plug than needed

@3_puppies actually, there are more slots than wires, so it could go into any of the 6 open ones.
