What motor would you go with the 4.3 Vortex or the 4.3 TBI or if i can find one the 3.4 5VZFE?
I need to know the pro and cons of each.
Which ones cheaper to do the swap.
How hards wiring going to be since my trucks carbed.
Or how hard to convert my 22r into a 22re.
The hole goal of this is to haul my 18' duck boat with easy and not going 20mph up a hill. dont say well gears it or a stroke with a crab did it. i have 5.29 and lockers and well a blown up stroker 22r in my truck. if this helps running 35 BFG tires.
If you want a idea on how long and big a Custom Cab is well look at readers rigs the last one me with the big blue truck. i would post pics but dont know how to since my stuff is full.
Thank you for your Help.

Yeah the proublem is i dont have much money and would love a toyota motor but trying to find one is like yanking teeth. The price people ask is kinda retard high plz post where i could get motor and wiring and cp.
I am deployed so my dads going to do motor swap for me if i can get the info and find all the parts.
I will try to find a motor any other ideas?

First off, Thank you for your service.

That said, I don't know a lot about the chevy swaps. You might try over on yotatech, ttora or dare I say Pirate4x4. A note on pirate, just read and search. Those guys do not take kindly to many questions and they will rip you a new one.

Where is your dad/ rig at? Might be some local guys/ clubs that could offer some help on locating parts.

Thank you for your support of my job not many people support it.

The truck is located Crescent City Ca. I will try those other forums sadly.
I have a 2.4 Toyota diesel i was going to put into it but they have not much modds for power and they dont hold up. I guess to modds but selling it now lol

I did a 4.3 vortec swap into my truck...if I had to do it over again, I'd be putting the 3.4L toyota in it.

if you do vortec, make sure you go with a '97 or newer, not a '95 like I did....POS spider injectors.

Thanks for the info got a 97 blazer running for $600 cash. So found a wiring company called Howell has anyone used them because the make a reall easy lug and go computure and wiring harness for not bad price.

Now the blaze has good trans in it shoudl i use the toyota tran and mate it to the motor? which makes manbearpig lol sorry south park. Or just use the chevy tran any idea because sraping the blazer after done?

I thinking of supercharging it two any ideas?

I am trying for tons of power and gas mpg on this build so if any ideas throw it out there plz.

Well, just for reference, what year is your Custom Cab? If it is an early model with say a 4spd, and you want an auto, then I vote Chevy trans. If it is a later model 5spd and you want to keep the stick then keep the Toyota trans and T-case.

I am pretty sure you can get an adapter for either one, really comes down to preference.

Its a 86 and you can see pics of it when i had it running on the rigs. So is my the good yota tran?

 I just read the title and realized what a dumb question that was. An 86 should have one of the later model 5spds. If so then I would say you would be safe using your Toyota trans. I will throw in there that I do not know what turbo/ super charging the motor will do, but I have seen small blocks in front of Toyota transmissions that survived fine as far as I know.

OK here goes. This is all CA smog legal. It can be done, but not again.

Mine has a '92 4.3TBI, W56, 4:10 and 35s. Gets ~16.6mpg with K&N (20R got 14mpg). Swap was done in '98, never been cracked open or out since. This is in an '80 shortbed frame with a '85 Xcab body, front of bed shortened 11.5" to get the wheel wells over the rear axle.

-Used NWOR mounts that fit the frame and motor, just not at the same time. *Get mounts from CRASH on Pirate4x4. Best there are.*
-Bellhousing is from Advance Adapters. Use their clutch disc it's easier than getting one moded or made. Flywheel is the smaller one 153? teeth.
-Exhaust manifolds were made from AstroVan tubular manifolds. D/S was cut and turned to clear the frame. P/S was made from two and rewelded. If you can afford it Sanderson makes some nice manifolds. Exhaust is run around the front of the pan and Ys at about the firewall under the brake pedal.
-Xmember is from a '85 with moded end to bolt to the frame. Shifter(s) comes up in the stock location.
-You will need new driveshafts.
-Front springs will take a beating and most likely sack out rather quickly.

Power steering is GM pump to IFS box, custom hoses.

Gobs of power but heavy azz motor compared to a 20/22R. Haven't broken anything, yet, but I don't drive crazy either.

My truck because the way it was built is as long as a 4door Dodge. The custom cabs have a 3 foot extend on the frame for crazy cab. So i have a two piece drive shaft would i need to shorten the top one?

Wiring where you get it done or did you use Howell easy kit?

Gas lines are yours changed out or bigger and fuel pump?

Finally can load pics of truck so you guys can see for idea size of truck it is. i love this truck more than anything 3yrs to find a good shape one. lol

Yes its camo now. i didnt have a jet boat to duck hunt so backed truck into lake tell water was level with tell gate and made a blind and hunted from the bed lol Yes the truck was off so legal where i am from i think. if you can hunt from a boat with the rule it has to be just truned off why not my hunting plat from my truck right lol they didnt argue because no leakss in motor bad idea thow i lost motor right after i got my jet boat lol.

Blue pics are old pics of it.

The truck will have black rims and 38" tires when done as you can see i have the lift for way bigger because in pic bump stops are smashed. It will also be mossy oak reed duck camo wrap when i find a new bed for it.

If your flate beding and have a good bed i will buy it with a price thats not dumb. Dont think flate bed would look good on it. But if i flate bed it i would put to dog kennels at front for my hunting labs. I train hunting labs when the military doesnt deploy me an it would have all dimound plate and do the u look with a flate top wwish i had a drawing to show. any ideas?

For the guy who last post about your converion i have way more question if you dont mind. Thank you so much for popping up on here.

Please if you have ideas for my build willing to read and intertain. Rember i am deployed and my awsome dads doing all this for me so i just come home to trun a key wish i was building it thow. :)

Nice of Dad to build it!

Forgot to mention,
-Needed a 1 1/2" body lift to clear the air cleanerso as not to rub the hood.
-Get rid of the GM remote oil filter, the lines are crap and will break. There is an adapter that just screws into the block and then you can us a spin on oil filter.

Be safe, get home.

So i have a two piece drive shaft would i need to shorten the top one? Depends on your truck and what type of wheeling you'll be doing.

Wiring where you get it done or did you use Howell easy kit? Used the Howell kit. Get the long one, still won't be long enough. Put the ECM in the roight kick panel after a little hammering.

Gas lines are yours changed out or bigger and fuel pump? Partial lines from TBI, flared for hose. External fuel pump. Your fuel pump, if internal ~55psi, will need to be regulated down to around 15psi for a TBI.
