Hey guys, quick question for you all. Just picked up an '86 4runner and am looking for advice on how large I can go when I get new tires for it. I'm upgrading the suspension - 2.25" OME rear leafs with add-a-leaf and nitrochargers all around, but wont be doing any body lift or anything else. Running this upgrade with the OEM 15"x7" wheels, how large can I go on new tires without rubbing/problems? I'm going to be getting K02's if it makes any difference. On a seperate note... if anyone is looking for 30x9.5 falken wildpeaks in norcal, im your guy 😂

Sorry if this has already been addressed in another thread, I couldn't find anything specific in searching.

Thanks Mud!

Truck didn’t have flaps when I got it. Zero rubbing in any configuration. Stock Land Cruiser wheels are 5.5” wide.

I have always understood that the first gens can run 33x10.50s on stock suspension, provided the springs don’t have 20 years of sag.

A new 2.5” lift is the standard formula for running 33x10.50 and 33x12.50...many run a 35 but do require trimming.

My 89 is my 16 year old’d DD for school...with stock gears, 3.0 V6 and automatic tranny, it is sloooooooow.

I've got 31-10.50's on the same wheels as yours. I am running Roger Brown BJ spacers up front, t-bars set to stock ride height, and OME rear springs that still need one more short leaf removed. the only rubbing that I've had was from a serious g-out, in the dark, in the middle of the Carrizo Plain, due to some PO cutting off the rear bump-stop landing pads.
Once I find a narrow 16" alloy wheel that I like and that have a near stock offset I plan to move to 235/85R16's (32" pizza cutters).

Has anyone tried 35 inch tires(305/70/17) on 4.30 gears? I wont have the issue of lack of power off the line like the 22r and 3.0 guys have. I have a 2 inch body lift and 1.5 inch ball joint spacers. Add a leaf in the rear packs. Im worried the 285/70/17s will have too much wheel gap inside the fenders. Id rather not do the body lift but my oil pan needs space to clear the front diff. (86 4 runner)
