98 Dodge Grand Caravan

I have a 98 Dodge Grand Caravan. I was sitting in traffic for 20 minutes and my lights started going dim and it was revving up. When I would press on the gas pedal the lights would go bright again. I turned around and came home. I let my van idle for a little bit and then it started smoking under the hood. What could be the problem? PLEASE HELP!!!

sorry to be cruel but the problem is you bought a dodge caravan ....... my sister had one that would conk out for electrical problems all the time..... she had a good friend (retired electrical engineer) that was about ready to shoot himself over it.... then it sat for 5 years before she scrapped it.....

i'm sure the smoke smelled like plastic wire insulation burning ... right?

try to find the melted wire.... open up the harness and see if you can find where the burn starts and ends..... it wouldn't hurt to meditate before and take deep breaths while you're doing it

I cleaned all the wires going into the battery terminals and it worked. Yea I feel dumb. It's the old lesson when you assume you make an ass our of u and me! Much thanks for the gracious help and apology for wasting people's time on such a dumb problem.

sometimes the internet will save your asss and sometimes it will tell you to rebuild your tranny cuz your hood wont open.

And sometimes good ol common sense and simple trouble shooting is all you need.

thanks to all for not saying "i told you so!"

you still need to user your brain but back in the say i had maybe 2-3 people i would bug every time i got stuck on something....... now i can press a button have numerous enthusiasts chiming in.... it makes you wonder what's to come in the future.... eventually they will just take them all away for the common good....
