85 transfer question

My new to me 85 xcab hilux is stuck in hi 2, I've done quite a bit of manly tugging and pulling, both in and out of gear, running and not, nothing happening. Shifter just won't move. Truck was used as a commuter here in Tx, so no rust, any ideas where to start? Is this common? I couldn't guess the last time the transfer was moved, but it's been a long, long time.

Have an 86 like that, Just gotta pull hard sometime!!!

If the "pull hard" theory doesn't work.... pull the shifter out and see what the shift rails look like. First then should not be rusty.... Eeek and 2 when in 2 hi the slot on the left rail should be forward and the right should be to the rear. Like this.....

Ive got a 86 hi lux and have dramas going the other way 4l to 2h.I've gotta push lever and let clutch out while in gear and it just pops straight in.

If your hubs are locked it could be binding up throught the front driveshaft. Try putting the truck in gear and pull the shifter whike engaging and disengaging the clutch. Hope this works for you.

i find rolling in reverse helps too sometimes. put in in R and pull ont he stick, then slowly let the clutch out
