so the passenger-side front wiper on the BJ70 (Canadian) has stopped working...

It first had the problem... maybe 6 years ago, then just last year I "fixed" it by turning the wiper mount all the way to the right and then it worked again :P

Then just recently it died again and it has no resistance to movement at all... just the driver side wiper works now

Can anyone help out? thanks

The arm is fine, it attaches to the spline solidly

I took the arm off and the spline just turns in either direction. With a bit of resistance now
Just tested the wipers without the passenger side one attached and when the other wiper reaches the top, the spline rotates a little bit clockwise and continues to do so...

I'm thinking that I might have to access the linkage, any idea how to do that?

This problem happened to my BJ70 some years ago living in BC. Seems that ice and snow present a lot of stress on the wiper system. I pulled off the arms, opened up the cowl panel between the windshield and hood, and looked for what was wrong. Disassembled what I could. There was a pressed on "arm" underneath the mechanism on the passenger side. I took out this passenger side shaft/assembly, positioned the underneath arm correctly, and welded it together. Has worked perfectly ever since. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input :)

My dad took it to his mechanic friend and he opened it and discovered the inside was worn out and couldn't turn (that's the best I could translate from Cantonese) and he had to order a new one from California :P
