so after 7 years of beating on the automatic and waiting for it to blow......i destroy it by launching the truck and landing on the RF wheel which caused the driveshaft to come up, WAY up and shear the trans cooler lines from the side of the trans.....not the lines but shear the cast in threaded female bung from the trans itself.....anyways
im now installing the 5speed ive had on deck for years.....ive got the tranny/transfer/flywheel/clutch G52 forward shift close ratio i believe from an 84 4x4 longbed 22r pickup plus the pedal assembly/master/lines/hose/slave/shift boot/etc
my questions are
1.anyone know what wires i need to bypass to make the starter work?...neutral safety bypass i mean
2. what wires make the reverse lights function?(there is a small switch forward on the auto trans under the starter...i think this might be it)
3.anyone have a picture as to where the clutch hose goes?....there is a bracket for the trans(goes thru the lower starter bolt? i think) and a bracket that was torn from the firewall i assume(a picture of exactly where this should be would be awesome)
4.im assuming the crankshaft has a recess for a pilot bearing......there is no such thing as a crank for an automatic only right?
u need new flywheel. to bolt on. when i did my swap. i ended up haveing to dremil the inside crank hole out a tiny bit because the casting was to thick. your most likly gonna have to drill the holes in the fire wall below and to the right of the mastercyl for the brakes. Bolt your pedals in first. i made my hole alittle to big i need to silocone around it. its a pretty easy swap if u got all the parts from the other truck. your driveshafts may or may not be difrent lenth also.
actually the only part i have done is the pedals so far.....wasnt tooo bad..........you said i need a flywheel?......how come is a flywheel from a 22r different from a 22re?.....i have several flywheels so what am i looking for?
1. Have this done out in the garage, Gotta put pants on and get a pic.
cross the 2 heavy black wires 2 vetical terminals (1 black, 1 black w/white tracer)
4. No, crank is a crank I just put a pilot bearing in a 87 auto turbo motor
new flywheels run around $50-60 if you think you may need a new onew
awesome man that is some great info.......the clutch i have has about 8000 miles on it.....it was replaced along with the flywheel back in 2008 in a friends 84 pickup....10 months later the spring hanger tore off the frame cause the frame mostly rotted in half.........i bought the whole truck for parts and tore it apart......ive had this "new" clutch sitting in abox since then........gonna use it for now to get the truck out of my friends garage and back mobile.....down the road(when i smoke it) im gonna replace all the clutch stuff with OEM new stuff but dont have the $$ to burn right now.....thanx again
